(For Parents)

  Q:

What is MusicLink?

  A:

The MusicLink Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks out promising music students in need and links them with qualified music teachers willing to teach them at up to half their normal fee for as long as the student is committed to the lessons.

  Q:

How does it work?

  A:

With the help of a school or community program, a student is identified and linked with a qualified music teacher. The parent or school, targeting students who qualify for the free or reduced school lunch program, determines financial need.

  Q:

Can a parent nominate their own child for the MusicLink program?

  A:

Yes, a parent can nominate their own child if the child qualifies for the free or reduced lunch program at their school or, if home schooled, falls within the same financial parameters.

  Q:

What if I don’t have an instrument for my child to practice on?

  A:

The MusicLink Foundation will assist in finding an instrument for your child which will be on loan. If your child remains in the MusicLink program for 4 years the instrument will be theirs to keep.

  Q:

Is there a time limit on how long my child can remain in the MusicLink program?

  A:

A child may remain in the MusicLink program as long as there is commitment to the lessons and until the child reaches the age of 18 or graduates from high school.

  Q:

Will I be able to choose the day or time for the lessons?

  A:

You will have an opportunity to meet with the MusicLink teacher before lessons begin to arrange a day and time that will work for both of you.

  Q:

How long are the lessons?

  A:

Generally speaking, lessons are 30 minutes long once a week, but this could vary depending upon the teacher.

  Q:

Do your teachers undergo a Background Check?

  A:

Yes, every MusicLink teacher has a Background Check performed on them when they register with us.

  Q:

How do I nominate my child for the MusicLink program?

  A:

Click HERE to access the Nomination Forms. Once the forms are submitted, a MusicLink coordinator will contact you.
