Any child who has musical potential deserves the
opportunity to nurture this talent to its full extent.

The MusicLink Foundation assists in linking promising students in need with professional music teachers for ongoing instruction. Students are nominated by their school, youth organization or parent. MusicLink offers the opportunity for your child to be taught by a qualified teacher in your community who has agreed to reduce the normal rate for lessons by at least half.

All MusicLink teachers receive a full criminal background check. MusicLink lessons may continue up to age 18 as long as the student has the desire to learn music.

MusicLink students are responsible for preparing for lessons, practicing regularly according to the teacher’s directions and participate in activities planned by the teacher. Music lessons require parental support and encouragement with consistent practice essential for success. Enrollment requires information regarding financial need reflecting eligibility for the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program. Other factors may also be taken into consideration when determining financial eligibility.

The MusicLink Foundation assists students in acquiring a practice instrument as needed and available and also provides discounts on required music and materials.

If you are interested in having your child participate in the MusicLink program, please complete the Parent/Student Information and Policy Form. After you submit these forms through the website, a MusicLink Coordinator will contact you and you will have the opportunity to get more information about the program.

How does it work?

  A:

With the help of a school or community program, a student is identified and linked with a qualified music teacher. The parent or school, targeting students who qualify for the free or reduced school lunch program, determines financial need.

Can a parent nominate their own child for the MusicLink program?

  A:

Yes, a parent can nominate their own child if the child qualifies for the free or reduced lunch program at their school or, if home schooled, falls within the same financial parameters.

  Q:

What if I don’t have an instrument for my child to practice on?

  A:

The MusicLink Foundation will assist in finding an instrument for your child which will be on loan. If your child remains in the MusicLink program for 4 years the instrument will be theirs to keep.

  Q:

Is there a time limit on how long my child can remain in the MusicLink program?

  A:

  Q:

Will I be able to choose the day or time for the lessons?

  A:

You will have an opportunity to meet with the MusicLink teacher before lessons begin to arrange a day and time that will work for both of you.

  Q:

How long are the lessons?

Generally speaking, lessons are 30 minutes long once a week, but this could vary depending upon the teacher.
