The MusicLink Foundation is sharing our Student Spotlight videos to showcase our students for all to see and hear. MusicLink “creates musicians, one student at a time” by linking eager students in need with professional teachers who agree to teach these students on partial to full scholarship for as long as these students wish to learn. VIDEO: Ethan Hemmings plays
Nobody Knows the Trouble I See
(arr. J. Rosamond Johnson)

In these videos, Ethan Hemmings of Arlington, VA, performs The Entertainer by Scott Joplin (arranged by J. Rosamond Johnson and transcribed for violin and piano by Maud Powell) and Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen arranged by Rachel Barton Pine. "I chose these pieces because they demonstrate the innate musicality I've had since I started playing the violin and represent the technique I have been working on for years."

Ethan has been a MusicLink student of Claire Allen since 2013, nominated by his school music teacher, Estelle Roth. Ethan is the winner of the 2020 Senior MusicLink Achievement Honors Award, which recognizes his dedication and achievement in music. He fuses his love of the violin with his passion for African American culture. He received a substantial scholarship to attend Shenandoah Conservatory in VA, studying violin with Akemi Takayama as well as studying music production.
